Dean M. (Coach) Roe, 84, of Stuart passed away May 23, 2010 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the North Fairview Cemetery at 2:30 P.M. in Lenox, Iowa.
Coach Roe had a 685-291 record in a 45-year career coaching 6-on-6 girls' basketball at Stuart-Menlo, Dexfield, Adair-Casey, South Page, and Coin. His wins total ranks ninth-best in state history. He was inducted into the Iowa Girls Coaching Association Hall of Fame in 1991 and to the National Hall of Fame in 2000.
